Q1. What is Express Pay? Express Pay offers you the convenience to pay your bills without queuing at your last stop of service at any of the following institutions - Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, Jurong Community Hospital or Jurong Medical Centre. Elderly patients, in particular can enjoy better ease of mind as Express Pay saves them the hassle of queuing at payment kiosks or sending payment to us. The bill(s) will be charged up to the maximum amount authorised or the outstanding amount, whichever is lower, to the designated credit card. The hospital bill and credit card slip will be sent within 7 working days upon our processing. |

Q3. How do I settle my bills? You may pre-authorise the payment of your bills using Visa and/ or Master cards. |
Q4. Is Express Pay chargeable? There is no administrative fee for this service. |
Q5. How do I register for Express Pay? Please approach any of our payment counters for the application form, and return the completed form to any of our counter staff. Alternatively, you can mail it back to us. The service will be activated at your next visit. |
Q6. Can Express Pay be used for bills other than my own? Yes. Please submit a separate application form for each patient. |
Q7. What if my bill exceeds the credit card limit? In this instance, your bill payment will be rejected by your designated credit card and our hospital will send you a bill for your payment. |
Q8. What if my outstanding amount exceeds the maximum amount that I have authorised? In such instances, a bill for the remaining outstanding amount will be sent to you. |
Q9. How do I change my Credit Card details? You may do so by completing a new Express Pay Application Form and stating your new credit card number, its expiry date and the name of the card holder. This will supercede the earlier credit card details given to our hospital. |
Q10. How can I terminate Express Pay? Please submit your request in writing to: Business Office Termination will take approximately 3 days to take into effect upon our receipt of your request. |
Paper bills will no longer be issued for outpatient services from 1 April 2024. Patients are required to log into their NUHS App to view and pay their bills. For more information, please refer to the FAQs here (PDF, 227 KB).
Outpatients will be classified as private or subsidised patients according to the following terms.
A subsidised patient refers to a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who has been referred to a public restructured hospital without specifying a particular specialist. The hospital will assign a specialist according to its discretion.
Subsidy is only applicable for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents who are not existing private patients for the same medical condition.

MediShield Life replaced MediShield from 1 Nov 2015, and will offer:
MediShield Life is a basic health insurance plan, administered by the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board, which helps to pay for large hospital bills and selected costly outpatient treatments, such as dialysis and chemotherapy for cancer.
MediShield Life coverage is sized for subsidised treatment in public hospitals. Those who choose to stay in a Class A/B1 wards or in a private hospital are also covered by MediShield Life. However, as MediShield Life payouts are pegged at Class B2/C wards, the MediShield Life payout will make up a small proportion of the bill only. The patient may therefore need to pay more of their bill from Medisave and/or cash.

Many Singaporeans have private insurance plans for hospitalisation in the form of Integrated Shield Plans (IPs).

If you have an IP, you are already covered by MediShield Life. MediShield Life is a component of your IP, there is no duplicate coverage.
The private IP insurers act as a single point of contact for IP policyholders, even though they work with CPF Board back-end on premium collection and claims disbursement for the MediShield Life component.

1. The new bills from different healthcare institutions offer different payment options. Why is this so? The payment options reflect in your bill are specific to the institution that you have visited/sought treatment at. 2. How do I view and pay for my bills? Between 19 and 30 April 2021, all NUHS patients can continue to pay for your bills via payment options reflected in your bill. They range from payment at the clinic and pharmacy counters, kiosks, AXS machines, etc. From 1 May 2021, as an added convenience, all NUHS patients can view and pay for their bills via the NUHS mobile healthcare app. Click here for more information on how to download the NUHS app as well as the various features available on the app. |
3. Is it safe to pay my bills via the NUHS App? The NUHS app is a secured platform to provide all NUHS patients with added convenience and easy access to their healthcare services and needs, including managing appointments; receiving queue number on the go; ordering of medicine balance and payment of bills. 4. What about HealthHub? Can I use this app to view and pay for my bills incurred at NUHS institutions? HealthHub is another secured portal by the Ministry of Health with easy access to healthcare services. You can also make payments for healthcare bills from different healthcare institutions. 6. Why is the new bill printed in black and white and not in colour? As part of the national effort to standardise presentation of bills across all healthcare institutions and care settings, all bills were changed to black and white to facilitate a standard design and print. |
