The NUHS Respiratory Medicine Senior Residency Programme aims to provide high-quality training for future leaders in Respiratory Medicine and Medical Intensive Care who will excel in clinical work, research, and education.
The programme also aims to provide broad educational experience involving evidence-based medicine practice, ethical reasoning / philosophy, smoking cessation counselling, pulmonary rehabilitation, and palliative care for advanced lung diseases. The programme strives to produce excellent, independent practitioners who will be leaders in academic medicine.
We welcome compassionate and driven team players who continuously seek to improve themselves as persons and as physicians. Our senior residents generally demonstrate strong interest in research, medical education, or both.

It is these very challenges in Respiratory Medicine that inspire me, that make me want to always be better, to be able to act despite the uncertainties in somebody extremely unwell. It is at the same time also a specialty that requires you to remain connected with your patients, be it breaking the bad news of a cancer diagnosis or allowing our critically ill patients to have a good death.
Despite the busy life of a registrar, I have no regrets doing Respiratory Medicine. There is immense satisfaction in applying physiology to help our patients find their breath of air."
