Dr Vivien Lim became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and was awarded the Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) by National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009. Upon completion of her residency in 2012, Dr Lim became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS). She was awarded the Academic Medical Development Award in 2015 and she trained with the renowned refractive surgeon Prof Jesper Hjortdal in the University of Aarhaus on Small Incision Lenticule Extraction (SMILE), the latest generation of laser technique in refractive surgery. She has vast experience with a broad range of cataract surgical techniques and new techniques such as femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery and multifocal toric intraocular lens implantation. Her practice interests include general ophthalmology; adult cataract surgery; LASIK and refractive surgery.
Dr Lim has published scientific papers in respected peer reviewed medical journals, and presented at numerous international and local conferences. Her research interests are in refractive and cataract surgery. She is active in teaching medical students and ophthalmology residents, and is a faculty member at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS.
