Adj Asst Prof Seow Choon Sheong is Head of the Division of Colorectal Surgery in JurongHealth Campus. He is practising as a Senior Consultant in Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre.
Adj Asst Prof Seow graduated from the University of Aberdeen and undertook basic and advanced surgical training in the West of Scotland, UK. His rotation included the Western Infirmary, Gartnavel General Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He also pursued research in molecular genetics at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, Glasgow, which earned him his medical doctorate (MD) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Scholar-in-Training Award. Adj Asst Prof Seow is on the UK Specialist Register as well as the Specialists Accreditation Board register. He is also an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow.
After his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST), Adj Asst Prof Seow undertook fellowship training in the department of Colorectal Surgery, Singapore General Hospital. He also worked as a consultant colorectal surgeon in the Manchester Royal Infirmary and the Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals, Bristol, UK.
Adj Asst Prof Seow is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate education. He teaches anatomy to medical undergraduates and is a tutor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course and the Anatomy of Complications Workshop for National University Hospital System (NUHS). He received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in undergraduate teaching and the Best Teacher (Surgery) Award in JurongHealth Campus twice. He is also the Associate Programme Director, General Surgery Residency Programme, NUHS.
