Asst Prof David Consigliere studied Medicine at the University of Singapore and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow). He did his Urology training here and at the Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, UK. Upon his return he helped to set up & administer the section of Urology in Tan Tock Seng Hospital in April 1993 with the unit subsequently gaining accreditation for Specialist Training in Urology. In August 2001, he moved over to the Department of Urology, National University Hospital as senior consultant and was appointed Chief of Urology from January 2004 until June 2010.
He has served on Ministry of Health Committees and Clinical Practice Guidelines workgroups. In 2008, he was appointed Chairman of the subgroup on Prostate Cancer Screening, for the Ministry of Health Clinical Practice Guidelines Cancer Screening Workgroup. He is also a member of the Prostate Health Workgroup, under the auspices of the GSK Urology Advisory Board.
He has officiated as President of the Singapore Urological Association, the Society for Continence, Singapore, and as Chairman of the Chapter of Urologists, under the College of Surgeons. He is engaged in undergraduate medical training as well as postgraduate urological training. He is presently the Chairman of the Urology Residents’ Advisory Committee and a member of the Surgery-In-General Residents’ Advisory Committee. He is involved in the department’s neuro-urology and incontinence programmes.
