Dr Chan Gek Cher is a Consultant from the Division of Nephrology (Department of Medicine), as well as the Program Director of NUHS Renal Medicine Senior Residency. She runs a Glomerulonephritis Clinic in National University Hospital, and serves as a current Board Member of Chapter of Renal Physicians (College of Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore)
Dr Chan graduated from University College Cork (University of Ireland), and had won the title of College Scholar during medical school for outstanding academic performance. She underwent training in NUH Internal Medicine Residency during which she served as the Resident representative of Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee, and completed her specialist training in NUHS Renal Medicine Senior Residency Program, where she served as Chief Resident (2014-2016).
Dr Chan's clinical and research interests are in glomerulonephritis, diabetic nephropathy and chronic kidney disease. Since her graduation, she was awarded the National Medical Research Council Training Fellowship Award in 2018, where she underwent a research fellowship with the Shankland Lab at University of Washington (Seattle, USA) for 2 years. She subsequently completed her Masters in Clinical Investigation (National University of Singapore, Class of 2021), and she is now pursuing a PhD with NUS. Dr Chan has won multiple research awards and seed grants, and has presented at multiple local and international conferences. She is, also, a co-investigator of several clinical trials and collaborative research projects in NUH.
