Arthritis of the hands, wrists and fingers are common diagnosis when a patient presents with pain in the hand. Arthritis of the hand can arise without any significant cause especially in the older age group or in patients who had previous trauma to their hand. Patient may have other form of inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis.
Diagnosis of arthritis is made from clinical examination by a qualified physician, plain radiography and simple blood test.
