What is Breast Pain (Mastalgia)?

Breast Pain tends to be associated with one's period, and it typically gets worse nearing or at the time of menstruation, and improves when the period has stopped. Breast Pain is usually not associated with cancer.

However, if you are concerned, please consult your doctor.

Some causes of Breast Pain are:

  • Reproductive hormones
  • Anatomical factors
  • Fatty acid imbalance
  • Medication use
  • Breast size

Breast Pain is diagnosed through:

  • Clinical breast exam
  • Physical exam
  • Ultrasound
