Prof Thomas Loh is a Senior Consultant with the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) at the National University Hospital. In his recent previous role as Deputy Group Chairman, Medical Board (GCMB), Prof Loh helped to develop the organisation structure of the specialties in NUHS institutions to unify clinical service lines across the cluster. He was part of a team that developed the NUHS Clinical Service Plan to right-site clinical care to ensure timely access of care, distribute manpower optimally, and set policies and standards at the cluster level. As Deputy GCMB, Prof Loh also worked with the Clinical Risk Committee of the NUHS Board to ensure and improve the quality and safety of our healthcare services.
Prof Loh was part of the team leading NUHS' coordinated response to the COVID-19 pandemic as a cluster. He served as our main point of liaison with the Ministry of Health and led NUHS teams in dormitory operations and mass swabbing and serology exercises. He also supported the set-up and management of Community Care Facilities and Swab Isolation Facilities.
In his role as Group Director, Leadership Strategy, NUHS, Prof Loh was involved in driving leadership development through the various NUHS and MOH courses. He oversees smooth transition of clinical leadership across the cluster.
In his clinical role, Prof Loh served three terms (2007 to 2018) as Head, Department of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery (ENT) at the National University Hospital (NUH). Prof Loh is also the Chairman of the Operating Theatre Committee in NUH. He has served in Otolaryngology Specialist Training Committees and in Residents Advisory Committees.
Prof Loh specialises in head and neck cancer surgery. He leads the Head & Neck Tumour Group at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). He has contributed to research in nasopharyngeal and other head and neck cancers with peer reviewed grants and publications.
