Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is a condition in which smokers have their lungs are damaged by the prolonged effects of tobacco.
Symptoms include recurrent cough, phlegm, and difficulty in breathing. Lung function tests will show obstructed airways.
Though medications and rehabilitation will help, it is best to stop smoking to avoid further damage to the lungs.
