We kicked off the inaugural NUHS Scientific and Innovation Summit with great plenaries from Prof Tan Chorh Chuan (Permanent Secretary, National Research and Development), Prof Eric Rubin (Editor-in-Chief, New England Journal of Medicine, NEJM Group), Prof Howard Bauchner (Chief Editor, Journal of the American Medical Association), and Prof Deb Schrag (Chair of Medicine, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center); and also heard from over 65 experts who spoke on cardiology, cancer, gastroenterology and hepatology, infectious disease, neuroscience and ophthalmology, to name a few. It was a platform that gathered our scientists and clinicians together to showcase our research at NUHS and in Singapore; and as importantly, inspire our young clinicians and graduate students to join us in our mission to transform Singapore with predictive, precise and personalised healthcare to all Singaporeans at every life stage.

As Singapore’s academic health system, we know we must continue to push the frontiers of science and medicine, and break new ground to overcome the health challenges that we grapple with today – leveraging broad efforts and collaborations to transform the healthcare workforce; develop new models of care; and innovate with technology and system enablers in order to create the health system of the future.
