NUHS, SingHealth and NHG collaborate to drive global Allied Health advancements, bringing together more than 700 international experts and Allied Health Professionals

Singapore — The International Allied Health Conference 2024 (IAHC 2024) is scheduled to take place from 1 to 5 November 2024. The highly-anticipated event, organised by the National University Health System (NUHS) in collaboration with SingHealth and the National Healthcare Group (NHG), marks a significant collaboration involving all three public health clusters in Singapore.

This is the first time that Singapore will host IAHC 2024, which was previously held in Scotland in 2005 and 2013. With the theme "Advancing Allied Health: Diverse in Calling, United in Purpose", IAHC 2024 is expected to bring together more than 700 Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) from around the world. This significant gathering will provide an exceptional platform for interdisciplinary collaboration, networking and the exchange of innovative practices.

The joint organisation by NUHS, SingHealth and NHG ensures that the conference benefits from the combined expertise and resources of Singapore’s entire public healthcare system, offering a unique platform for interdisciplinary learning and cooperation.

Advancing the Future of Allied Health

The conference will address several cutting-edge topics crucial to the future of Allied Health, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Allied Health: Exploring the role of AI in enhancing diagnostic accuracy, streamlining patient care, and improving health outcomes. Sessions will cover the integration of AI technologies in daily practice and their implications for AHPs.
  • Interdisciplinary Care Models: Discussions on new models of care that emphasise collaboration among different health disciplines to improve patient outcomes across the care continuum.
  • Global Health Challenges: Addressing the evolving challenges faced by AHPs globally, including the impact of pandemics, ageing populations, and health equity.
  • Innovations in Patient-Centered Care: Highlighting the latest advancements in patient engagement and care strategies that put the patient's needs and preferences at the forefront.

Notable speakers include Professor Beverley Harden, MBE, Deputy Chief Allied Health Professions Officer, National Health Service, England; and Emeritus Professor Mary Lovegrove, OBE, Emeritus Professor of Education and Development for AHPs, London South Bank University, who will deliver the opening and closing keynote lectures respectively. Many other esteemed speakers from Singapore, Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom are being lined up as plenary speakers in the respective sessions.

The conference will also feature the launch of the Global Allied Health Network, an initiative aimed at connecting AHPs worldwide to strengthen their collective impact on healthcare delivery. GAHN encompasses a collaborative network of Allied Health leaders from Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

As part of IAHC 2024, delegates will have the unique opportunity to participate in clinical site visits across Singapore, providing a close-up look at best practices in diverse healthcare settings.
