Our Mission and Objectives

  • Provide secretarial, editorial and technical assistance and support for healthcare staff and scientists endeavouring to publish in medical and scientific journals.
  • Establish a programme for educating healthcare staff and scientists about the skills and requirements of writing for medical and scientific publications.
  • Create awareness of the standing of medical and scientific journals, and the various measures of publication importance.
  • Encourage junior staff to publish by fostering a conducive and stimulating environment of friendly competition, assistance and mentorship.

The unit was formed in 2003 and renamed NUHS Medical Publications Support Unit with the formation of the National University Health System (NUHS) in 2008. 


Successful medical and scientific writing begin with good ideas, sound research and extensive knowledge of the subject. However, cognisance of the writing and editing process, timing and marketing skills, as well as familiarity with the information technology tools available will make writing more enjoyable as well as increase your chances of publication. The resources in this section serves to promote medical and scientific writing and publications.
