The Global Research Outreach ("GRO") Program is Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd. ("SEC") and related Samsung companies ("SAMSUNG")‟s annual call for proposal which is conducted by Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology ("SAIT"), SAMSUNG-wide R&D Center, open to world‟s leading universities. It is designed to create opportunities - at colleges, and universities around the world - for exploring breakthrough & innovative research. With this call, SAMSUNG invites your best and novel ideas on a range of compelling research subjects with the goal of establishing a collaborative research relationship with SAMSUNG.
Through the GRO program, the institute invites researchers to submit thier innovative research ideas which will be evaluated for their novelty and alignment with SAMSUNG's many different research fields. Please click here for more information.

For multi-year proposals, awards will be made for one year only. Project may get funded for up to 3 consecutive years only after an updated Proposal is submitted and selected again for the subsequent years.

- The applicant should be a personnel of the university.
To be eligible for an award under the GRO program, the university shall accept GRO Research Agreement (RA) as part of the proposal-submission process. Initial acceptance by the applicant's university is accomplished through submission of GRO RA Acceptance Letter without any modifications. GRO RA Acceptance Letter also confirms that no confidential or proprietary information will be included in submitted proposals. SAMSUNG will treat all information submitted in proposals as non-confidential and non-proprietary. Universities selected for awards shall also sign GRO RA documents before award processing.
Stage 1: Please submit the following to NUHS Research Office by Wednesday, 15 May 2013 (12 noon) for collation and onward submission to ODPRT office for endorsements.
Stage 2: Email Submission by PI -Deadline: 24 May 2013, 9:00 A.M. Korea Standard Time (UTC+9)
Applicants must submit the following two (2) documents as one (1) research proposal package:
I. Research Proposal ("Research Project Specification")
a. Please refer to the "GRO Proposal Guide & Format" attached for details on format and research themes.
b. Proposals are recommend to be no longer than 10 pages; additional pages may be used for supporting figures, images, data, CV or other documentation.
c. For CV, provide a one(1) or two(2) page CV for the principal investigator, any co-principal investigator, and the proposed graduate student. Please, attach all CVs at the end of Research Proposal.
d. Research Proposals are expected to provide answers to the research questions posed, in English, in MS Word format only.
e. Recommended file name of proposal: 2013 GRO_Theme Title_Subject Title_PI University name_PI Last name (e.g. "2013 GRO_Medical Technology_Ultrasound RF Signal_Stanford_Smith).
II. Scanned Copy of Signed GRO Research Agreement (RA) Acceptance Letter
a. To be eligible, applicants shall submit an unmodified GRO RA Acceptance Letter (completed by PI and endorsed by Director of Research Administration, ODPRT).
b. Scanned file of the GRO RA Acceptance Letter shall be sent in PDF format only. Note: A scanned copy of the endorsed GRO RA Acceptance Letter will be forwarded to PI for his/ her use during submission to grantor.
Proposal (Set of two(2) documents) shall be submitted by PI in English by the deadline stipulated above to GRO online submission site which is now opened.
