Associate Professor Aymeric Lim

Associate Professor Aymeric Lim holds concurrent appointments as the Physician-in-Chief and the Group Chief Human Resource Officer, National University Health System (NUHS). In his role as the Physician-in-Chief, he oversees the planning and provision of integrated and comprehensive clinical care across the cluster. As the GCHRO, he is responsible for providing strategic oversight of human resource matters including driving the on-going cluster HR integration efforts; growth of the talent pipeline; and succession planning for senior leadership positions. 


He is also the Dean of the Healthcare Leadership College, MOH Holdings, which supports building leadership capacity and capabilities for our national public healthcare system, in line with the Ministry of Health’s vision and strategic priorities.  


Associate Professor Aymeric Lim served as the Chairman, Medical Board (CMB) of the National University Hospital from 2008 to 2016.  As CMB, he oversaw the professional leadership in NUH, and governed the practice of patient care.  Under his leadership, Associate Professor Lim established the hospital’s Patient Safety Strategy which aimed to eliminate harm and achieve zero preventable errors, along with integrating and optimizing patient experience to provide safe and clinically effective care. 


A trained hand and microsurgeon, Associate Professor Aymeric Lim completed his medical training at the National University of Singapore in 1990.  He obtained his FRCS (Glasgow) in General Surgery in 1995 and went on to complete his Advanced Fellowship training in Hand surgery in France (Bordeaux and Nancy) in 2000. His expertise includes flaps, peripheral nerve reconstruction and tendon transfers.  His research on the intra-muscular innervation of the muscles of the forearm has led to new clinical work in the field of tendon transfers, techniques useful for patients with severe forearm crush or nerve injuries.  Associate Professor Aymeric Lim has published widely in local and international journals. 


Associate Professor Aymeric Lim had served in various capacities at both institutional and national levels. He was the Vice-Dean in the Dean’s Office, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, in 2017, the Chief of the Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery from 2004 to 2008, the past President of The Singapore Society for Hand Surgery from 2007 to 2008, and past Chairman of the Specialist Training Committee, MOH.


 Associate Professor Aymeric Lim also served as the Commanding Officer of a Combat Support Hospital in the Singapore Armed Forces from 12 May 2009 to 11 November 2015.  As a veteran of humanitarian projects, he has led missions to places like Taiwan, Afghanistan and Bandar Aceh in Indonesia.
