Associate Professor Quek Swee Chye is NUH’s champion of quality improvement and patient safety. As the chair of the clinical director’s committee, he oversees critical work processes and improvements on the ground to ensure our patients receive the best care possible. He also supervises clinical quality committees in the hospital.


Under A/Prof Quek’s leadership, NUH became the first hospital in Singapore to receive Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in 2004. A/Prof Quek’s expertise is recognised by the Ministry of Health, where he serves as a consultant for quality and patient safety. He has been invited to speak at many international conferences, and has served as a reviewer of abstracts for the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare. He is also passionate about training clinicians in the methodology of quality improvement - this has resulted in hundreds of projects that have achieved national and international awards.


As a paediatric cardiologist, A/Prof Quek’s work has been published extensively in peer reviewed journals. He serves as a reviewer for international journals such as Heart, International Journal of Cardiology and Annals of Academy of Medicine.
